Choose Plans

VeloDB Cloud offers a range of plans for both SaaS and BYOC warehouses to cover different workload needs. Each plan has its own pricing for compute, storage, and cache, and its own set of capabilities.

Where to find Plans

Click your profile area in the bottom-left corner of the console to open the account menu, then click Plans under Organization.

At the top right of the Plans page, a Region selector lets you view pricing for a specific region. Prices and certain feature availability can vary by region, so make sure the selector is on the region you care about before reading the cards.

Available plans

VeloDB Cloud currently offers two plans:

PlanDesigned for
StandardProduction environments that need high availability and auto-scaling.
PremiumMission-critical environments that need advanced security, compliance, and faster support.

The plan currently active for your organization is marked Current Plan on its card. The other plans show a Switch to <plan name> button.

Single-tenant isolation on Premium

In each region, all of your organization's SaaS warehouses store their data in a storage bucket dedicated to your organization. The difference between the plans is the metadata layer. The Meta Service holds catalog and transaction metadata, and it runs at one of three isolation levels:

  • Multi-tenant (shared across organizations): one Meta Service serves warehouses from many organizations, and its capacity is pooled across customers. This is the level on Standard.
  • Single-tenant per organization: a Meta Service in the region is reserved for your organization and shared by all of your organization's warehouses. This is the level on Premium, which provides single-tenant isolation for the storage and metadata layers.
  • Dedicated per warehouse: a Meta Service serves a single warehouse, making that warehouse its own fault domain, so problems in other warehouses' Meta Services cannot affect it. This is available on Premium for critical workloads and is arranged with VeloDB support.

A warehouse's Meta Service is fixed when the warehouse is created and cannot be changed later. Only warehouses created after a single-tenant Meta Service is enabled for your organization use it. Existing warehouses keep running on the Meta Service they were created with and cannot be migrated to a different one. To move a workload onto a single-tenant Meta Service, create a new warehouse after it is enabled and migrate the workload into it.

A single-tenant Meta Service currently requires a request to VeloDB support and is not yet provisioned automatically when you switch to Premium. To enable a single-tenant Meta Service for your organization, or a dedicated per-warehouse Meta Service for a critical workload, contact VeloDB support before you create the warehouse. When a single-tenant Meta Service becomes the default on Premium or a choice you can make at warehouse creation, this page will be updated.

This applies to SaaS warehouses. BYOC warehouses run in your own cloud account, so their storage and Meta Service are already dedicated to your organization on every plan.

Switch plans

To change your organization's plan, open the target plan card and click Switch. You can switch in either direction, from Standard to Premium or from Premium to Standard.

Warning A plan switch applies to the entire organization and to all SaaS and BYOC warehouses inside it. Compute pricing changes immediately for all running clusters in the next billing period. Confirm the impact on your bill before switching.

Switching from Premium to Standard

Standard does not include Premium features, so you must turn off every Premium feature before you can switch down to Standard.

  • SAML single sign-on can be disabled at any time. Turn off SSO in your organization settings before switching.
  • TDE / CMEK cannot be disabled on a warehouse that already has either feature enabled. To remove either feature, migrate the data from each TDE- or CMEK-enabled warehouse into a new warehouse that has neither feature enabled, then remove the original warehouses. Once no warehouse uses TDE or CMEK, you can complete the switch to Standard.

After the switch to Standard completes, every Premium-only capability becomes unavailable across the organization. To use those capabilities again, switch back to Premium.

Choosing a plan

A short rule of thumb:

  • Standard is enough for most production workloads where you control the security model from the warehouse and cloud-account level.
  • Choose Premium when you need SAML SSO, customer-managed encryption keys, single-tenant Meta Service isolation, or a faster Level 0 support response.
