Add Sample Data

Load a built-in dataset into your warehouse to try queries without preparing your own data source. Loading sample data creates tables in your warehouse. This differs from connecting a sample data catalog, which exposes external sample tables for queries.

Before you begin

  • Make sure the destination warehouse has a running cluster and your account has permission to load data into the target database.
  • Choose a dataset size that fits your available compute and storage resources.

Loading sample data uses warehouse compute and storage. See Billing for usage and charges.

Load a sample dataset

  1. Log in to the VeloDB Cloud console and select the destination warehouse.
  2. In the left navigation pane, click Data Integration. Click Add sample data. If the Import Jobs page already contains jobs, in the upper-right corner, choose Add Data > Add Sample Data instead.
  3. Select an available dataset, then click Continue.
  4. Enter the job name and target database, then select the cluster and dataset size.
  5. Click Confirm. Check progress under Data Uploads. After the load completes, open SQL Editor and query the sample tables.

Manage sample data loads

On Data Integration, select Data Uploads to view sample dataset load records. Deleting a record removes only the job record, not its imported table or data. Jobs in progress cannot be deleted.

When you no longer need the sample data, remove the sample tables to release their storage.
