Upgrade Core Version

Use this page to upgrade a warehouse to an available newer core version or choose how patch versions are applied. VeloDB Cloud shows only versions supported in the warehouse's cloud region.

An upgrade applies to the warehouse and its clusters. You can start an upgrade immediately or schedule it for the maintenance window or another time window.

Warning:

An upgrade interrupts service. Schedule it during off-peak hours and make sure that applications reconnect automatically.

Manually upgrade the core version​

  1. Log in to the VeloDB Cloud console.

  2. In the upper-left corner, select the warehouse that you want to use.

  3. In the left navigation pane, under MORE, click Warehouse Settings.

  4. In the Version Upgrade section, click View Upgrades.

  5. On the Manual Upgrade tab, choose an available version in Target Version.

  6. Under When to Execute, choose one of the following:

    • Execute Now: Start the upgrade immediately.
    • Execute Later: Select O&M Time Window or Other Time Window. The scheduled event appears in the Message Center, where you can modify or cancel it before it starts.

  7. Review the interruption notice, then click Confirm.

The warehouse status changes from Running to Upgrading while the upgrade runs, then returns to Running when it completes. An upgrade typically takes about 1 minute.

Note:

  • An immediate upgrade requires every cluster to be Running or Paused. Resolve any in-progress cluster operation first.
  • If an upgrade task is already in progress or scheduled, you cannot start another until the existing task completes or is canceled.
  • VeloDB Cloud resumes a Paused cluster for the upgrade and returns it to Paused after the upgrade.

Patch version upgrade policy​

On the Version Upgrade Policy tab, choose how patch versions are applied:

  • Auto Upgrade: VeloDB Cloud automatically upgrades to the latest stable patch during the maintenance window. Major and minor version upgrades still require manual action.
  • Manually Upgrade: Patch upgrades run only when you trigger them from the Manual Upgrade tab.

Click Confirm to save the policy.
