Platform Release Notes

This article describes the release notes for the management and control platform of VeloDB Cloud.


September 2026​

New Features

  • VeloDB Cloud enhanced backup and restore capabilities.

    Export Backup now supports performance mode selection and the Skip unsupported objects option. Failed backup runs no longer delete existing successful backups based on the retention policy. Restore operations now enforce warehouse version requirements to prevent incompatible restores.

  • VeloDB Cloud Terraform Provider added support for BYOC warehouses.

    You can now use the Terraform Provider to manage BYOC warehouses as infrastructure as code, enabling consistent, version-controlled warehouse management.

Improvements

  • Improved the Connect UI to make connection methods, endpoint information, and network configuration options easier to find and understand.
  • Optimized the Clusters page UI to make cluster status, resource information, and common management actions clearer.

August 2026​

New Features

  • Added private network configuration to the Import Data module for MySQL and PostgreSQL import jobs.
  • Added sync parameter configuration, column filtering, and target table renaming for MySQL and PostgreSQL import jobs.
  • Added CDC network support for MySQL and PostgreSQL import jobs in the BYOC model.

Improvements

  • Improved performance for multi-table export-based backups and fixed failures caused by view parsing.
  • Integrated the ticketing system with Jira to improve support workflow tracking.
  • Improved organization navigation to make resources easier to find. See Organizations for the organization-level navigation and resources.
  • Improved the BYOC warehouse creation experience.
  • Redesigned the SaaS warehouse and cluster creation workflows.

Billing

  • Added a display of the total account balance in Billing.

July 2026​

New Features

  • Added support for custom infrastructure resource tags in the BYOC model, helping organizations classify resources and manage operations by their own tagging standards.
  • Enhanced metrics monitoring and alerting for PostgreSQL/MySQL import tasks, helping users identify import exceptions in time.
  • Added snapshot-based backup and restore capabilities, available by allowlist.

Improvements

  • Refactored and optimized SQL Editor to improve the editing and user experience.

Billing

  • Added data transfer billing, with charges starting in September 2026.
  • Added support for sending monthly bills on a regular schedule.

Security

  • Added controls for log collection and the AI assistant, allowing users to enable related diagnostic and assistant capabilities as needed.
  • Added support for AWS EBS encryption keys in the BYOC model.

June 2026​

New Features

  • Added onboarding flows for real-time analytics and observability scenarios, helping new users get started with workload-specific guidance.
  • Added support for auto scaling, allowing clusters to scale automatically based on workload demand.
  • Added support for multi-AZ deployment in the BYOC model on AWS and GCP to improve availability.
  • Added support for SAML SSO integrations, including Okta, Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra ID, and Cisco Duo.

Improvements

  • Enhanced metrics monitoring for tasks such as Async MV, Routine Load, and Warmup Jobs.
  • Launched a redesigned console UX for a more modern and consistent user experience.

New Regions

  • The BYOC model was launched in the GCP Hong Kong (asia-east2) and Las Vegas (us-west4) regions.

May 2026​

New Features

  • Alert notifications now support Webhook and PagerDuty, enabling teams to route warehouse alerts to their existing on-call and incident tools.
  • Added an AI assistant, providing slow query analysis and interactive Q&A for faster diagnosis.
  • Added the Management API, allowing organizations to manage VeloDB Cloud resources programmatically.
  • Added a Terraform provider for VeloDB, allowing users to manage warehouses and clusters as code.

Improvements

  • Optimized the first-time warehouse creation flow for a smoother onboarding experience.
  • Adjusted the free trial policy to a 30-day trial with US$300 in credits.

April 2026​

New Features

  • The SaaS model now offers a Premium plan, providing enhanced service tiers for organizations with higher security and support requirements.
  • Added visual management of Management API Keys, allowing organization administrators to create, view, enable/disable, and delete API keys directly from the console.
  • Alert notifications now support Slack, enabling teams to receive warehouse alerts directly in their Slack channels.

Improvements

  • Optimized the console navigation menu structure and overall UI layout for clearer organization and a more consistent user experience.

New Regions

  • The BYOC model was launched in the Central India region of Azure.
  • The BYOC model was launched in the Mumbai region of AWS.

March 2026​

New Features

  • Support one-click data import from MySQL and PostgreSQL, significantly simplifying the data migration process.
  • Added support for Frontend Group expansion, allowing warehouses with high shard counts or high query concurrency to scale up the FE resource specification beyond the free baseline. Each warehouse includes a free Small (4 vCPU, 16 GB RAM) FE group by default; paid expansion to Medium, Large, or XLarge is available on demand.

Improvements

  • Intelligent time zone adaptation automatically switches the time display based on the user's location.

New Regions

  • The SaaS model was launched in the England region of AWS.

February 2026​

New Features

  • Added a tutorial to help users get started with easy-to-follow product guidance.

  • The BYOC model was launched in the Tokyo region of AWS.

January 2026​

New Features

  • Added support for seamless, one-time full migration of data from Apache Doris and StarRocks into the VeloDB data warehouse.
